Reach the Heart Moment: Hitting the Target

There’s a great story about a man who rode into town and noticed in several different places, an arrow was dead center in the bulls-eye of a target painted on a building.

As many old west stories go, the fellow went to the town saloon. He commented to the bartender that there must be a real marksman in town. At that, the bartender and others listening broke into laughter.

“Oh, no, it’s not that way,” the bartender said. "Those arrows were shot by the village idiot who then painted the target around the arrows."

Too often people are doing the same thing with their walk with God. They only see God as someone they can shoot their requests or their prayers off to, then for some time trying to live right, making sure they do the religious things so God is impressed.

As a Christian, there is a calling, a mark of excellence that we can achieve through Christ. Philippians 3:14 says,

“I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

Christ is our mark and our desire must be to have Christ be the center of our lives.

As Paul the Apostle said, “I press on toward…” and that must be the direction for us as well.

I’m Pastor Cal, and I pray you reach a heart through this Reach the Heart Moment.
