Reach the Heart Moment: Resolutions

Published on:
January 14, 2021

It’s here, the first week of 2021, and many of us have already broken two, maybe three of our so-called “New Year’s Resolutions.”

We make all kinds of promises this time of year. We promise ourselves we will lose weight, quit smoking, and even resolve that we will not miss one day of reading the Bible this year!

Making a resolution to change is one thing, but the willingness to carry through on your commitment is another! After all, 365 days is a long time. One individual who resolved not to sin was Joseph. At a young age, probably 14, he was sold into slavery and even faced a familiar temptation - have sex with someone who was not his wife. Because Joseph never gave in to temptation, he was unfairly imprisoned for 14 years of his life. Even though Joseph spent half his life in prison, God honored his resolution to do what was right and carry through no matter what the circumstances.

Doing what is right may not always feel good, but it will position us to be effective.

Joseph ended up saving the lives of millions of people. To this day, Joseph is still recognized as a person of the highest caliber. All because he carried through on what he set to do in his heart - to serve and honor God.

No matter what: Are you willing to have that kind of resolve?

I’m Pastor Cal, and I pray you reach a heart through this Reach the Heart Moment.
